Davao Doctors Hospital and the University of the Philippines Mindanao formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement to collaborate on the implementation of the university’s upcoming Medicine Program. The signing ceremony was held at the Gaisano Room of the UP Mindanao Administration Building last August 27, 2025.

The agreement was signed by UP Mindanao Chancellor Prof. Lyre Anni E. Murao and Davao Doctors Hospital Chief Operating Officer Mirasol B. Tiu, with UPMin Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs A/Prof. Maria Stella R. Salazar and DDH Medical Director Dr. James Edward R. Mangaoil as official witnesses.

This partnership supports the academic expansion under UP Mindanao’s Mindanao Health Initiative, a strategic program focused on improving the health outcomes of communities in the region. The initiative also supports UP Mindanao’s “Road to 5,000 Students” (R2-5K) agenda, which aims to enhance academic offerings and increase enrollment from 1,400 to 5,000 students by 2029.

The collaboration with Davao Doctors Hospital, a recognized leader in tertiary healthcare in Mindanao, plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of clinical training for future doctors. It reflects a shared commitment to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals and strengthening the health systems in underserved regions of the Philippines.
