Metro Pacific Health Corporation (MPH), the first and largest private hospital network in the country, announced today its acquisition of a majority shareholding in UHBI-Parañaque Doctors Hospital, Inc. (PDH), its 10th hospital in Metro Manila.
PDH was established 21 years ago by a group of 58 founders consisting of doctors, professionals and entrepreneurs. It is a 94-bed Level 2 hospital along Doña Soledad Avenue, Better Living Subdivision, Paranaque City, mainly catering to its surrounding barangays of Don Bosco, Sun Valley and Moonwalk, and also extends its market reach to other high-density residential villages in the city.
Metro Pacific Health seals its investment in UHBI-PDH in a signing attended by (L-R) Divino Lorenzo F. Villanueva III, Director - Investment Banking of GIV Capital (Advisor to Sellers); Conrado A. Gloria Jr., President & CEO of GIV Capital (Advisor to Sellers); Manuel Eduardo B. Lunas, Former Chairman/President of Parañaque Doctor’s Hospital; Jose Noel C. de la Paz, Director for Corporate Development of Metro Pacific Health; Kris Anne A. Tuaño, Assistant Vice President for Business Development of Metro Pacific Health.
PDH sits on about 6,000 sqm of land, with ample space earmarked for future expansion. The hospital facilities include a new 7-storey building, completed just prior to the onset of the pandemic which, when fully activated, can boost capacity to a total of 150 beds.
“Parañaque City is a key market between Makati and Muntinlupa which MPH has been keen to have a presence in,” said MPH President Augie Palisoc, Jr. “We are grateful to be part of PDH, a hospital with a rich history and a strong pool of over 200 active doctors,” he added.
MPH’s transformation plan for PDH will include full utilization of the new building, improvement of the patient flow and enhancement of patient experience, through the rationalization of its ground floor, upgrade of hospital equipment, and improvement of clinic spaces, all geared towards drawing in the larger outpatient market of Parañaque and its environs.
PDH is MPH’s 24th hospital in its growing nationwide portfolio of healthcare facilities, a foray started in 2007 with an investment in Makati Medical Center. Other premier hospital names in the portfolio include Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Manila Doctors Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital and Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod.
With the recent investment, Metro Pacific Health continues to uphold the vision of MPH Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan to improve the delivery of quality and affordable healthcare throughout the nation.
